Powderfinger Perth 2027 is, for now, a question rather than a booking. On Friday 9 October 2026 the Brisbane five-piece confirmed in a video that they are back together, with a national Australian tour starting in September 2027. Cities, venues and on-sale details land on Monday 12 October at 3am Perth time. Whether Western Australia makes the cut is not yet known, so this page sticks to what is confirmed, what Perth saw last time and how to be ready when the list drops.

Powderfinger Perth 2027: the reunion news and the gaps

The confirmed part is short. Bernard Fanning, Ian Haug, Darren Middleton, John Collins and Jon Coghill appeared together in a video released on 9 October 2026 to say Powderfinger is returning to the stage, and that a run of Australian shows begins in September 2027. It is the first proper tour since the band walked off the Riverstage in Brisbane on 13 November 2010; the only time they played together in between was the 2020 One Night Lonely livestream, filmed with no audience.

Everything else is still blank as of today:

  • whether Perth is on the route, and how many nights it would get;
  • the venue, the date and whether the show is indoors or outdoors;
  • ticket prices, presale windows and the selling agency;
  • support acts and the name of the tour itself.

National tours do not always reach the west, and when they do it is often for fewer nights than on the east coast. Powderfinger have a decent record here, which is a hopeful sign, but nothing more than that until Monday. We will not fill those gaps with guesses dressed up as news: when the band publishes the itinerary, this page is rewritten around the real details.

Powderfinger Perth 2027 announcement: Monday at 3am AWST

The itinerary goes public at 6am AEDT on Monday 12 October 2026. Western Australia does not use daylight saving, so in Perth that is 3am AWST — a three-hour gap that catches people out every time a national tour is announced from Sydney or Melbourne. If you want to see the list before breakfast, it will already be waiting; if you want to see it the second it appears, set an alarm.

Announcement day is usually not sale day. Australian arena and stadium tours tend to run in stages, and any of these could apply this time (none is confirmed yet):

  • Fan presale through the band’s own mailing list;
  • Card-holder or telco presales tied to a sponsor;
  • Promoter or venue presales for newsletter subscribers;
  • General public on-sale, normally a few days later.

Watch the start times closely. Sales are often listed in local time for each city, but a single national time quoted in AEDT would mean a very early morning in the west. Have your ticketing account created, logged in and with a card saved before anything opens. Use the alert form below and we will email you once the Perth details, or the confirmation that there is no Perth date, are public.

Powderfinger Perth history: three decades of trips west

For a band from the other side of the continent, Powderfinger spent a lot of time in Perth. Fan-compiled setlist archives log around thirty Perth shows between the mid-1990s and 2010, and they cover almost every kind of room the city has had.

In the Odyssey Number Five era they played The University of Western Australia on 21 October 2000 and Arena Joondalup the following night. The New Suburban Fables tour reached the old Perth Entertainment Centre on 30 October 2001, a venue that has since closed. In 2003 the Vulture Street run took in Metro City in Northbridge and Arena Joondalup again.

The Big Day Out brought them to the Claremont Showground in 2005 and again on 31 January 2010. In September 2007 they shared three nights at Claremont Oval with Silverchair on the Across the Great Divide tour, and in June 2008 they squeezed into Metro City for two club nights. Away from the capital, they played Karratha in August 2007 as part of a Triple J regional series and visited a school in Roebourne while in the Pilbara.

That spread — university lawns, northern-suburbs arena, Northbridge club, riverside gardens — says a lot about how loyal the Perth crowd was, and about why fans here will be watching Monday’s list closely.

Powderfinger Perth 2010: the Sunsets nights by the river

When Powderfinger announced their split in April 2010, the farewell run was billed as the Sunsets Farewell Tour. It grew as tickets flew: across the country it sold roughly 250,000 tickets, and 22 of its 34 dates sold out. Perth was among the cities given extra shows.

The west got three consecutive nights at the Supreme Court Gardens, on 22, 23 and 24 September 2010. The gardens sit at the edge of the CBD between Barrack Street, Riverside Drive and the Supreme Court buildings, on the edge of the Swan River foreshore near today’s Elizabeth Quay. An outdoor lawn rather than an arena, it gave the shows a very different feel from the indoor dates in Melbourne or Sydney.

Setlists logged from those nights open with “Love Your Way”, “Lost and Running” and “Burn Your Name”. Across the tour as a whole, Jet, The Vines and You Am I took turns in the support slot; which of them played Perth is not something we have verified, so we do not claim it.

Those three September nights were the last time Powderfinger played Western Australia. The tour ended seven weeks later in Brisbane.

Powderfinger Perth 2027 venues: what could fit (speculation)

Clearly labelled speculation: no Perth venue has been announced, and Perth may not be on the tour at all. These are simply the places in and around the city that host acts of this size, so you can picture the options.

  • RAC Arena in the West End of the CBD — the city’s main indoor arena since it opened as Perth Arena in 2012, close to Perth and City West stations. The obvious choice for a September tour, when evenings can still be cool.
  • Optus Stadium at Burswood — only realistic for a stadium-scale route; most Australian reunion tours stay in arenas.
  • Outdoor riverside lawns such as Langley Park or the Supreme Court Gardens — the 2010 precedent makes these tempting, but outdoor events need the right season and permits.
  • Swan Valley and hills amphitheatres such as Red Hill Auditorium — popular for warm-weather shows rather than early spring.

The tour starts in September; the order of cities is unknown, so Perth could fall in spring or nearer summer, which would change which of these makes sense. Treat this list as a map, not a forecast.

Powderfinger Perth 2027: what to expect if the band comes west

Nobody has seen a setlist for 2027, and the band has said nothing about new music, so any answer here leans on the past. The 2010 shows were built as a career summary, and the 2020 livestream drew on the same catalogue, from Internationalist and Odyssey Number Five through to Golden Rule. Songs like “These Days”, “My Happiness”, “Passenger” and “(Baby I’ve Got You) On My Mind” are the ones most people will be hoping for, but that is a fan wish list, not a promise.

Practical points for a Perth crowd:

  • Travel: if Perth is skipped, the nearest date may be Adelaide, more than 2,000 km away. Fly-in fans should wait for confirmed dates before booking anything.
  • Demand: fewer western dates usually means more pressure per show, so presale access matters more here than in cities with longer runs.
  • Getting there: CBD venues are walkable from Perth station; anything in Burswood or the Swan Valley needs planning for event trains or shuttles.

Above all, buy only through the seller named in the official announcement. Resale listings that appear before tickets exist are guesswork.

Presale code Powderfinger Perth: how it works in WA

A presale code is a password that unlocks tickets before general sale. For Powderfinger in Perth in 2027, the codes would be shared through several channels at once โ€” the artist, the promoter, banks, phone companies and sometimes the venue โ€” each with its own window and allocation. None of them is published in advance, and anyone offering a code for a show that has not been announced is guessing. If the Perth venue is confirmed, our alert sends the real codes and their start times, already converted to Perth time.

The Powderfinger artist and fan-club presale

The first window usually belongs to the artist. Fans who join the official mailing list or fan club before the announcement receive a code by email or a unique link, often the evening before the presale opens. For Powderfinger, sign up as early as possible: some lists close presale registration once the tour is announced. Fan-club presales sometimes include the best seats at the Perth venue, so they are the most valuable window for a single Perth night.

Powderfinger promoter presales: My Live Nation, Frontier, TEG, Chugg

Australian promoters run their own lists. Live Nation uses My Live Nation, Frontier Touring offers a members presale, and TEG and Chugg Entertainment run newsletter presales for their tours. Which one applies depends on who is bringing Powderfinger to Perth in 2027, which is only clear on announcement day. Joining the main lists costs nothing, and the codes often arrive the morning of the presale, so check your inbox and spam folder before the start time.

Amex and Mastercard presales for Powderfinger in WA

American Express card members in Australia get early access to selected tours, usually by verifying the card at checkout rather than with a public code. Mastercard runs a similar programme for some events. These windows tend to sit between the artist presale and general sale. If Powderfinger is part of one in 2027, the announcement names the card and the times, and we pass that on with the Perth start time.

Telco presales for Powderfinger: Telstra Plus and Optus Perks

Telstra Plus members and Optus customers through Optus Perks receive presale access for a number of national tours each year. Access is through the relevant app or account, not a public code. Not every tour has a telco partner, and the offer can differ between cities, so check whether the Perth show at the Perth venue is included before you plan around it. Telco allocations are limited and can sell out within the first hour.

Ticketek and Ticketmaster queues for Powderfinger on WA time

In Perth, the larger venues sell through either Ticketek or Ticketmaster, and both use a virtual queue when demand is high. Be logged in and ready before the start time, use a single device per account and do not refresh. The catch for Western Australians is the clock: an eastern start time becomes a Perth clock time two or three hours earlier, because WA has no daylight saving. Our alert quotes every Powderfinger sale in AWST.
