Perth’s festival season is front-loaded: the first two months of the year are packed, and the rest of the calendar is dotted with smaller, more local events. In 2027 FRINGE WORLD and Perth Festival overlap through early February, filling Northbridge, the Cultural Centre and the riverside with shows. Some familiar names are missing this time. Laneway has dropped Perth from its 2027 run, and the Wave Rock Weekender in Hyden held its final edition in September 2026. Here is what is confirmed or expected, with dates only where organisers have published them as of 9 October 2026.
FRINGE WORLD Festival 2027
Run by the not-for-profit arts organisation Artrage, FRINGE WORLD is one of the largest fringe festivals in the world by attendance. For nearly four weeks, comedy, cabaret, circus, theatre and music fill pop-up tents, bars and halls in Northbridge and the city, with satellite programmes in the suburbs and regional WA. Much of the programme is open access, which means anyone can register a show, so quality ranges widely — and part of the fun is gambling on something unknown. Tickets are typically cheap compared with headline concerts, and many shows run for several nights.
Perth Festival 2027
Perth Festival, which dates back to 1953, returns from 5 to 28 February. The full programme launches on 29 October 2026, with Festival Club members getting first access and general sales from 2 November. Early announcements include The Avalanches closing the festival at the East Perth Power Station on 28 February, plus theatre at His Majesty’s. Music is spread through the programme — often in unusual outdoor sites — alongside theatre, dance, film and visual art. It is the moment Perth’s cultural calendar peaks.
Laneway Festival 2027 (not visiting Perth)
Laneway Festival has reduced its footprint for 2027, visiting Sydney (12 February), Brisbane (13 February), Melbourne (19 February) and Auckland (21 February). Perth and Adelaide have been dropped from the schedule. That breaks a long run of Perth editions, so fans will need to travel east or hope for sideshows. If any Laneway acts announce their own Perth headline dates, they will appear on our calendar and in the city alert as soon as they are confirmed.
Nannup Music Festival 2027
A community festival in the timber town of Nannup, run around WA’s Labour Day long weekend. Its programme mixes folk, roots, blues and world music, with dozens of acts across several stages, workshops and street performances. The 2026 edition ran from 27 February to 2 March. Many visitors camp nearby or stay in the South West, combining the music with a long weekend of forests and wineries. 2027 dates have not yet been published.
Perth International Jazz Festival
The city’s main jazz festival brings local players together with interstate and international guests across bars, theatres and outdoor stages in the CBD and Northbridge, extending towards Hyde Park in the City of Vincent. Its free street-level programme draws people who would never buy a jazz ticket, while ticketed concerts suit dedicated listeners. Program dates for 2027 have not been announced; it has traditionally landed in the warmer months of late spring.
Hidden Treasures (Fremantle): Perth festival guide
Fremantle’s winter music series puts local original bands into small rooms on cold Thursday nights. The 2026 edition took the format into two suburban bowling clubs, North Freo Bowlo and Hilton Bowling Club, with three stages in each and lineups curated by local artists. It is the best way to see what WA’s own scene sounds like away from the touring circuit. Look out for the 2027 programme in autumn.
