About The Rechabite

The building was built in the 1920s as the hall of the Independent Order of Rechabites, a temperance society — an irony not lost on the bars that now occupy it. After years of disuse it was restored and reopened as a multi-level venue, with a main hall for gigs, comedy and cabaret and bars on other floors. The hall suits independent touring acts and cult names. In 2027 we track Laszewo, Swimming Paul, honestav, Rops1, Daoirí Farrell, MONO (27 April) and Show Me the Body (17 December). Its central Northbridge address puts it close to the small bars, galleries and the Perth Cultural Centre, so it is easy to start or end the night nearby.

Getting to The Rechabite

The Rechabite is on William Street in the middle of Northbridge, a five-to-ten-minute walk north from Perth station or Perth Underground across the rail precinct. That makes it reachable from every Transperth train line with a single change at most, and buses pass along William Street and through the nearby Perth Busport. The free CAT buses that loop the inner city also serve Northbridge. Parking in Northbridge is mainly in paid public car parks and fills up on weekend evenings. If you are heading home late, check last-train times on the Transperth app before the encore.

The Rechabite 2027: seats, bags and timing

Most gigs in the hall are standing with limited seating at the sides; seated formats are labelled clearly. The bars upstairs are a good spot before doors, but they fill fast on warm nights. Arrive around doors time for intimate shows, as the hall is small enough that the front rows go quickly. Carry photo ID, as the venue is fully licensed.
