Perth High Performance Centre in 2027: the venue

Opened in 1986 as the Superdrome, the complex was built for elite sport and still trains WA’s athletes, with an Olympic-standard aquatic centre, two arenas and a gym. It was known as Challenge Stadium and then HBF Stadium before taking the name Perth High Performance Centre on 1 January 2025, when the HBF sponsorship ended. Ticket listings often shorten it to “Perth HPC”. Its main indoor arena fills the gap between Perth’s theatres and RAC Arena, and in 2027 it hosts The Human League (27 January), Ronan Keating (11 March) and two nights of Malcolm Todd (21 and 22 May). Because the building is a working sports centre, concerts share the calendar with basketball, netball and community sport, and the arena is converted for each show.

Getting to Perth High Performance Centre

The Perth HPC is about 8 km west of the CBD on Stephenson Avenue, Mount Claremont, in the western suburbs. There is no station at the door: the Fremantle line stations around Claremont are the closest rail stops, but they leave a fair walk or a connecting bus, so check the Transperth journey planner for your exact show. Most concert-goers drive or use rideshare. There is on-site parking with an event-day fee, and the car park takes time to clear after a full house, so a few minutes’ patience at the end helps.

Before your Perth High Performance Centre concert

The arena is a sports hall first, so the sound is more direct than in a purpose-built theatre; a spot near the mixing desk tends to give the best balance. Food options inside are basic compared with the city, so eat in Claremont or Subiaco on the way. Allow extra time to park and walk from the car park to the entrance.
