About Perth Concert Hall

Perth Concert Hall opened in 1973 and is the long-time home of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Its concrete modernist building is heritage-listed, and its auditorium has hosted everything from symphony seasons to singer-songwriters and comedy. The hall closed on 21 December 2024 for a large redevelopment that adds rehearsal and event spaces, improves access through the entry and redesigns the forecourts. Construction is scheduled to finish around the end of 2027, with the state government pointing to a reopening in early 2028. That means no concerts here during 2027; for seated shows this year, look to the Riverside Theatre, the Regal Theatre or the Astor. The project is run by the state government, which publishes progress updates as the works move through each stage.

Getting to Perth Concert Hall

When it reopens, Perth Concert Hall will again be one of the simplest venues to reach: it sits at the eastern end of St Georges Terrace, a short walk from Elizabeth Quay station and around ten minutes from Perth station and Perth Underground. Buses along St Georges Terrace and Adelaide Terrace stop close by, and the free CAT services pass through this part of the city. During construction the forecourts are fenced off, so there is no reason to visit for an event until the redevelopment is finished.

Because the hall is closed throughout 2027, any listing that places a 2027 concert at Perth Concert Hall should be treated with suspicion until the reopening is officially dated.
