Optus Stadium in 2027: the venue

Officially Perth Stadium, the bowl on the Burswood peninsula opened in January 2018 and replaced Subiaco Oval as the city’s home of AFL football. Its bronze-toned exterior is a nod to Western Australia’s geology, and the grounds around it — playgrounds, a lakeside path and the river edge — make it pleasant to arrive early. For concerts the stage usually goes at one end of the oval, with a standing field in front and the seating tiers wrapped around it. It is reserved for the biggest tours: in 2027 Bruno Mars plays two nights here on 13 and 14 February. In the cricket season the Perth Scorchers and Test cricket also use the ground. Summer concert nights here draw the largest crowds Perth sees for music, and the city’s transport network is geared around emptying the peninsula quickly afterwards.

How to get to Optus Stadium

Optus Stadium has its own railway stop, Perth Stadium station, which runs special services on event days; trains also pick up at Burswood station, a little to the south. Many people simply walk: from East Perth and Claisebrook the Matagarup Bridge carries pedestrians across the Swan straight to the stadium park, around 20 minutes from the city edge. Event buses run from several points around the metro area for big fixtures. Parking on the peninsula is limited and mostly pre-booked, so plan the trip home before the encore and expect queues at the station after a sell-out.

Optus Stadium 2027: seats, bags and timing

Seats on the lower tier side-on to the stage are a good balance of view and comfort; the top tier is high but sound carries well. On a February night it can still be warm at sunset, so bring water where allowed and sunscreen for early entry. The station gets busy after the final song — waiting ten minutes on the concourse can be quicker than joining the first surge.
