Weather matters in a Perth year. Summer shows can follow 35-degree-plus days, and outdoor gates often open in daylight; take a hat and water where allowed and expect the evening to cool once the sea breeze arrives. Autumn is the most comfortable season for outdoor gigs; winter means rain jackets rather than cold.

For dinner beforehand, Northbridge and the Perth CBD suit RAC Arena, the Riverside and Metro City; Beaufort Street is the obvious choice before the Astor; Fremantle’s cafe strip and the Fishing Boat Harbour area work for shows in the port. Book ahead on big nights.
